CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Three young friends of Maddie O'Hare Schmidt held a lemonade stand on Thursday to raise funds for Magic for Maddie, a non-profit supporting families affected by brain cancer.

Maddie O'Hare Schmidt, who passed away from brain cancer in December 2022 at the age of eight, inspired the creation of Magic for Maddie by her parents.

The organization aims to support local families and fund research into diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a rare and aggressive brain tumor.

"We were all in school, and we're sitting on the wall, and we just thought of the idea to have a lemonade stand," said one of Maddie's friends.
