Update: Gunman fired ‘dozens and dozens’ of rounds at Pa. troopers and EMT after killing neighbor, officials say

A man with a rifle who ambushed and hospitalized two Pennsylvania State Police troopers in Susquehanna County Thursday morning had shot and killed his neighbor shortly before, according to the New York Times .

Authorities said the man shot and killed his neighbor in her driveway just before 11:30 a.m., prompting troopers Joseph Perechinsky and William Jenkins to respond to the rural area about 5 miles north of Thompson, along Route 171.

When Perechinsky and Jenkins arrived, they were “immediately fired upon and ambushed,” according to State Police Col. Christopher Paris.
