While watchdog has ruled there is no evidence of price gouging, shoppers remain unconvinced

Consumers may well feel they are living in a parallel universe when it comes to comparing their views on supermarket prices with those who own those businesses. Altered states of reality do appear to exist when it comes to how prices are perceived.

Grocery basket prices have been rising at three times the rate of general inflation, yet a Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) investigation concluded yesterday there is no evidence of price gouging.
