Teams pay to play in All-American’s tee shot

ELLWOOD CITY — A golf outing with proceeds benefiting Butler County Community College raised the second-highest amount in its 30-year history on Friday, Aug. 1.

The outing gave 31 competing teams an opportunity to capitalize on the accuracy of a BC3 All-American.

Squads in the scramble format paid $20 to purchase an orange ball to be driven on a par-3 hole by Jacob Marquardt, a BC3 student-athlete and All-American who earned a postseason golf award in June.

The BC3 Education Foundation event at Olde Stonewall Golf Club near Ellwood City generated $110,000.
