MEMPHIS, Tenn. - An officer who crashed a police SUV into a parked car at an apartment complex in southeast Memphis on Tuesday afternoon was not headed to an emergency at the time, the department said.
The officer was not seriously injured.

Memphis Police (MPD) said the crash happened just before 5 p.m. at the MAA Southwind apartments on Cart Path Lane. Investigators arrived to find that an officer was in an MPD vehicle when it lost control, struck two curbs and a tree before crashing into a parked car in the parking lot of the apartment complex, police said.
Police said the officer was "was not en route to a vehicle call and was not in emergency." The officer's body-worn camera also was not on at the time of the
