PHOENIX (AZFamily) — There’s friction brewing between a Phoenix school and the Department of Child Services over whether the murder of a 10-year-old girl could have been prevented.

Empower College Prep, the school that Rebekah Baptiste went to in Phoenix, says it has receipts of all the times they called DCS to report abuse.

DCS is saying the school called five times and that only one was investigated because the rest didn’t meet all the requirements.

School officials pushed back on Thursday, saying each report was made following mandated laws. Empower College Prep director Brian Holman said he is frustrated with DCS, saying the agency is “missing records.”

The school gave Arizona’s Family dates, times, and information about what they reported and to whom.
