A historic former Glasgow school is to be turned into social housing flats.
The Newlands Centre, formally Newlands Primary school , is to be turned into flats for social rent after Glasgow City Council announced the disposal of the Parkhead site. Built in 1895, the building served generations of locals until its closure in the 1970s.
It was most recently used as a Health and Social Care Partnership office, before being declared surplus to council requirements in October 2024. At a committee meeting held on Thursday, August 7, councillors gave the green light for negotiations to begin for the off-market disposal of the property at 871 Springfield Road to Wheatley Homes.
