SPOKANE, Wash. -- UPDATED 11:19 p.m., August 7 - Police arrested the man accused of stabbing two people near Spokane City Hall on Thursday night.

Around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of three people fighting near City Hall.

As officers arrived, they found two victims who had been stabbed.

SPD said the suspect was found on the Post Street Bridge threatening suicide.

For four hours, police and multiple crisis negotiator teams attempted to coax the suspect off the Post Street Bridge.

Police arrested the suspect without incident around 10:15 p.m.

SPD said one victim died from their injuries at a local hospital. The other victim is hospitalized in stable condition.
