(FOX40.COM) -- After several weeks of unusually cool temperatures, the Northern California region may see its first heat wave of the summer.
Over the next few days, the weather is forecast to heat up beyond 100 degrees.
"The reason for the heat? High pressure sitting over the four-corner states," said FOX40 Chief Meteorologist Adam Epstein. "It's not moving too much but that heat is expanding westward."
Friday is the start of the hotter weather with temperatures forecast to hit as high as 106 degrees towards Chico. In the Sacramento Valley, it's expected to be 101 degrees. Saturday is also forecast to reach the triple-digit range.

"Heat will remain throughout the Central Valley. We could even get close to 110 further north," Epstein said.
