The Brandywine School Board President is asking state legislators to give his district a second chance to set tax rates for this year.
Jason Heller appeared on Thursday's Rick Jensen Show on WDEL, advocating for Tuesday's Special Session at Legislative Hall to put more power into districts who were compelled to set tax rates just hours after the final information from New Castle County had been received by finance officers.
The Brandywine School District chose to take a 1.7% property tax pool increase, much lower than the 10% permitted by law and taken by Appoquinimink, Christina, and Indian River.
Since that vote in early June, the Federal Department of Education told Governor Matt Meyer they will release $28 million in frozen federal funds to Delaware, which would negate Brandywine'
