A mental health charity 'should have escalated' the case of a woman expressing intention to take her own life - but it still would have been too late to save her, an inquest has found.

Jessica Smithson, 27, was found dead by her father at her home in Rochdale on August 28, 2024. She had reported an alleged rape to Greater Manchester Police two days earlier.

A two-day inquest at Rochdale Coroners Court which concluded on Thursday (August 7) heard that, while Jess was already receiving support from the Pennine Care mental health team for unstable personality disorder, her alleged assault prompted an 'acute deterioration' and resulted in her taking her own life.
