There’s a tie for the lead after 18 holes of this year’s Sinclair Rocky Mountain Open. Jared Sawada and Van Thomas both shot a 7-under-par 64 at Tiara Rado Golf Course Thursday to take an early lead in Colorado’s oldest tournament.
Sawada, a former Hawaii Rainbow Warrior, had six birdies and only one bogey in his round. The 35-year-old recorded an eagle on the 18th hole to claim his share of the early lead. Thomas birdied three of the first four holes and finished with eight birdies in his round. The Las Vegas native picked an inopportune time for his lone bogey of the day, however, bogeying the 18th hole to fall into a tie for the lead.
