LOS ANGELES – The Sparks’ season looked vastly different just a month ago.

On July 10, they lost to the Lynx and were 6-13. They appeared to be well on their way to another losing season and set to, once again, miss the postseason for a fifth consecutive year.

That loss, however, marked a turning point in the season.

The Sparks have won eight of their last nine games, including a double overtime win against the Storm, a home victory over the similarly streaking Fever and besting the defending champion Liberty on the road.

They entered Thursday’s game as the favorites against the 5-23 Sun and, after a slow start to the game, made good on those odds, beating Connecticut 102-91 at home.
