CALEXICO – Former Calexico High School graduate Raymundo Serrano, now in the United States Air Force, was tabbed in 2023 to help out with immigration law to assist and support the U.S. Border Patrol in Texas.
Serrano thinks he was chosen for two reasons, including being bilingual with Spanish and growing up near the border in Calexico.
“I was ready to go,” he said. “This is what the military is. I was like, ‘Let’s go.’”
“The Air Force saw that in me and thought I would be good at it,” he said of the barely three-month position. He joined the military in 2021.
“I chose the Air Force because the mission aligned more with what I want to do,” he said.
Serrano, 31, is taking a year off to attend college, as he seeks another Master’s in Medical Science, which would allow him to be an office
