The Texas Rangers and Temple Police Department are investigating an officer-involved shooting and the City of Temple said the suspect is dead.

According to a news release, at 9:09 p.m. Thursday night the Bell County Communications Center received a call of a man “unafraid to shoot himself”.

He went on to say say he was “just done”, he wanted the police department to come shoot him, and he had a pistol aimed at his head and knew what he had to do. The subject said he had lost his wife and home.

Officers then responded near Avenue A and 4th Street right next to the police department and tried to deescalate the situation. At 9:20 p.m. the suspect removed the gun from his head and pointed the gun at several officers, seven responded by firing shots at the suspect.
