One of the true success stories for Pittsburgh under Ed Gainey’s administration has been the expansion of inexpensive but effective traffic calming measures around the city. These projects, which are sometimes as simple as painting lines on the street in a different configuration, have a demonstrated track record of slowing speeding vehicles, thereby making city streets safer for all — and especially those on foot, bike, scooter and so on.
