Because there’s no official roster, it’s hard to tell how many transfers Winston-Salem State Coach Robert Massey has welcomed for this season.

A few of them, however, have already stood out as the Rams opened practice earlier this week. Massey said he’s got about 25 new players on the roster between incoming freshmen and transfers.

Among the transfers are offensive lineman Eric McKeown (Limestone), defensive end Kyle Williams (Delaware State), linebacker Khalil Stimpson (Catawba), running back JaQuan Kelly (UNC Pembroke) and quarterback Isaiah Bess (Charleston Southern).

Stimpson, who is from Greensboro and is a Grimsley graduate, should step right in as a starting linebacker and is looking forward to the change of scenery.
