The Desert Hills High School boys golf team won Region 9’s season opener Thursday afternoon, edging Crimson Cliffs by a single stroke.
The Thunder’s top four players shot a collective 290 over 18 holes, just two strokes over par, while the Mustangs finished with a score of 291. Right behind them was Pine View, which captured third place with a score of 293.
The match was played in triple-digit temperatures at Coral Canyon Golf Course in Washington City.
“Today with the heat, they battled through it and stayed cool,” said Desert Hills head coach Marco Leoni. “If they made a bogey, they got right back on track and made birdie or par on the next hole. Never let the wheels fall off today. Composure, confidence, and control was a huge part in today’s team win.”
