Eighty-one schools in Greenville County will be participating in a free lunch program for the 2025-26 school year.

This will be the second year the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is expanded in South Carolina to include students enrolled in Medicaid benefits, enabling 81 schools to qualify for the new school year.

Due to a four-year eligibility guarantee, the 81 schools may remain in the program at least through the 2026-27 school year, "as not all schools were re-grouped," according to Greenville County Schools (GCS).

Inclusion in the program will help GCS continue its vision "To be an exemplary, continuously improving school that provides students the highest quality, nutritious school meals possible to support their academic success and promote healthy lifestyles."
