A Coventry vicar and his wife were killed after a driver 'lost control' of his Audi while speeding, an inquest has heard. Stephen and Katherine Burch died in the crash in Beaumaris, Wales , in August 2024.

Driver Humphrey John Pickering, 81, also died from major chest and internal injuries. He was found to have 'applied the accelerator rather than the brake' which led to his Audi A8 colliding with Mr and Mrs Burch.

Mr and Mrs Burch, from Alcester, Warwickshire , had 'no time to react' as Pickering failed to negotiate a sharp bend and 'lost control' of his Audi. He was not wearing a seatbelt and had been driving 'well in excess' of the 20mph speed limit at the time, the inquest was told.
