INDIANAPOLIS — Among the tall, wooly llamas and alpacas at the Indiana State Fair, the Warren County show people were easily visible in their bright pink t-shirts with “Herd of Heroes” in black bold lettering.

For a few days, these 4-Hers — like 15-year-old Daisy Stutler from Williamsport — slept on cots in the Expo Hall just feet away from their animals. They faced the challenge of leading the often stubborn animal through dozens of competitions — including an obstacle course, in which they tried to parallel park their furry friend, keeping them from munching on tree leaves and escorting them past plastic crocodiles.
