It’s unfortunate that updated federal guidelines on who should get COVID-19 vaccinations have narrowed, giving people the wrong impression that the once-dreaded disease is harmless, even gone from our midst.

On the contrary: the state Health Department says the statewide test positivity rate has risen to 16.1%, up from 14.3% last week, which was higher than the previous week’s 12%. Best to get vaccinated.
