CARMEL – Traveling along Fair Street in Carmel is quite a nightmare with construction crews toiling away during weekdays.
Traffic this summer has been backed up to Gleneida Avenue resulting in flagmen receiving the brunt of motorists’ frustrations.
The inconvenience will have been well worth it once the massive project from John Simpson Road to Route 52 has been completed.
Putnam Legislator Dan Birmingham met with members of the Carmel Town Board Thursday and provided the panel with an update.
Birmingham forecast Putnam’s largest road reconstruction project — $26 million – is expected to be concluded by late summer or early fall of next year.
The cost is being split with Uncle Sam footing 80 percent of the tab and New York and Putnam County 10 percent each.
