Early morning fire burns home in Covington, officials say

COVINGTON, Tenn. - Firefighters battled an early morning house fire in Covington on Wednesday, officials said.

According to the Covington Fire Department (CFD), firefighters responded during the early hours of Wednesday to a house fire on Roane Street. Officials said an officer with the city's police department discovered the blaze while on patrol and called for help.

CFD said no one was home at the time of the fire, adding that no one was injured.

Other agencies that assisted in the fire response include the Tipton County Sheriff's Office and the Covington Police Department. Officials did not immediately release the cause of the fire.
