TEMPLE, Texas — A man died Thursday, August 7, after pointing a gun at officers outside the Temple Police Department following an 11-minute standoff.

The City said officers tried to deescalate the situation, trying to calm the man and asking him multiple times to lower the gun. Several minutes later, the man allegedly aimed the gun at the officers, causing the officers to fire their weapons.

9:09 p.m. - A man contacts Bell County Communications Center, reports he is outside Temple Police Department and is ''unafraid to shoot himself''

9:10-9:12 p.m. - First officers arrive on scene; subject states he is "just done," wants police to shoot him, and confirms he has a pistol
