HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - A large crowd was on hand Thursday night in Jasper in opposition to the Mid-States Corridor Project.

INDOT says the project would improve highway connection in southern Indiana. Last month, INDOT was officially given the green light to begin a study for the project.

Some at the meeting shared their concerns, saying the impacts will reach far beyond just disrupting property lines.

"It's going to end up causing most of the streets to be dead ends, that's going to cost extra time for emergency vehicles, people coming to and from work, people coming to and from school….and one of the conditions of them getting to build this is that Huntingburg, Jasper, Dubois County, Martin County, Loogootee, Shoals, take over the upkeep maintenance of Highway 231.
