The Social Security Administration (SSA) has implemented numerous changes to its operations since the Donald Trump administration began back in January 2025. But later this year, the SSA will by-and-large stop administering paper checks to the small portion of recipients who still receive their monthly benefits this way.

Starting September 30, 2025, the SSA will stop issuing paper checks for benefit payments for the majority of claimants who still get their benefits this way. According to SSA data, 521,644 remittances were still issued by physical check as of July.
