KINGSTON— Ulster County lawmakers moved forward with an effort to improve conditions for families in emergency housing, as the county Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee voted Thursday in support of a resolution accepting state funds to expand family-centered case management.
Approved Resolution No. 381 amends the 2025 county budget to accept funding from the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance that will support services aimed at stabilizing families and individuals experiencing homelessness, particularly those living in motels used as emergency shelters.
“We’re extremely encouraged to be receiving these funds for the second year in a row,” said Department of Social Services Commissioner Michael Iapoce.
