PEORIA, Ill. – An apartment fire in Peoria Thursday afternoon reportedly caused $60,000 damage.
Fire Battalion Chief Larry Carter says crews were sent to an apartment complex on W. Woodhill Lane around 2:10 p.m., finding fire showing from the second story of a six-unit building.
Carter says the fire was contained to a bedroom on the second floor. The apartment sustained fire and smoke damage.
The apartment was occupied at the time of the fire, but a search of the building found no other occupants were in their apartments.
Crews had the fire under control within 10 minutes, though they stayed on the scene for an hour to check for hidden fire and hot spots.
