EL DORADO -- Train service on the Missouri Pacific railway from the north is demoralized tonight by a burning oil well near Lyon City, eight miles north of here. Ties have been burned for a distance of several hundred yards, and a sheet of flame is continuously playing across the right of way, thrown by a terrific gas pressure. The well on the Gulf Refining Company's G.E. Murphy lease in section 8-16-15 was brought in several days ago from the Graves sand and was flowing at the rate of 3,000 barrels of oil a day when it was ignited in some unknown manner late this afternoon. Railway officials tonight declined to make a statement concerning the probability that trains from Little Rock may be routed over another line until the fire can be extinguished.
