BEAR LAKE COUNTY, Idaho — Visitors around the north end of Bear Lake can expect an increased law enforcement presence as the annual Raspberry Days festival begins and summer crowds surge.
The Idaho State Police, in partnership with the Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office and other state agencies, has expanded its patrols to handle more than 5,000 daily visitors. Troopers are using ATVs to monitor the three-mile shoreline and deploying drones for search and rescue efforts.
"Our goal is to keep people safe and help them enjoy Bear Lake responsibly," said Lieutenant Todd Orr. "As the crowds grow, so does the need for a strong, visible law enforcement presence."
The increased patrols will continue through the end of the summer season.
