Energy Consumers Minister Miatta Fahnbulleh appeared on BBC Breakfast alongside host Naga Munchetty to address Ofgem's latest measures after a deluge of smart meter grievances. The UK energy watchdog announced that households can now claim compensation from providers when smart meter installations are delayed.

Under the updated regulations, customers become entitled to £40 compensation if they endure waits exceeding six weeks for smart meter fitting, encounter issues with defective meters within their supplier's remit, or face units not functioning in smart mode that remain unfixed beyond 90 days. Speaking with Naga, Fahnbulleh characterised these problems as "basic things that are kind of bread and butter for me that frustrate people every day when it doesn't happen."
