(Williston, ND) — Officials are approving plans to build the state’s largest-ever power plant. The state Public Service Commissions approved construction of the Bison Generation Station earlier this week. Basin Electric Power Cooperative proposed the four-billion-dollar-project to address rising power demands in the state’s northwest region. Officials say the facility would be located in a small community near Williston and serve as a baseload for around-the-clock electricity needs. The one-thousand-and-470-megawatt power station is expected to be fully operational by 2030.
