As the 2025/26 academic year kicks off, the Yuma Police Department has reintroduced its school resource officers, who are dedicated to ensuring safety and building strong connections in local schools.
Among them is Ramon Maya, a 19-year veteran of the department who is entering his third consecutive year as an SRO. Maya previously served both Crane Middle School and Centennial Middle School.
With the recent assignment of SRO Angel Angulo to Centennial, Maya will now focus exclusively on Crane Middle School.
Maya brings a total of nine years of SRO experience to the role and is well-known for his commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for students and staff.
“We are dedicated to the schools and the community,” Maya said. “Let’s have a great school year!”
