One of two men accused of murder after a man was hit by a car is believed to have had a heart attack, it has been revealed today.
Jack Hunt was due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court this morning, but his lawyer, Danny Moore KC, told Judge Julian Smith he had been informed by staff at Elmley Prison that the 33-year-old had been taken ill.
Recounting his brief conversation with a guard over a video link, Mr Moore said: "We spoke to the prison officer who said my client had become very unwell and, these are her words, 'We suspect he has had a heart attack'.
"That is the sum total of the information I have."
Mr Moore added that he would update the court on the defendant's condition once more details were available.
