Armed police were scrambled after an 'unattended' dog attacked a woman and a second dog in Heywood .
Officers with weapons were spotted on the High Street and South Street in the town shortly before 4:45pm last night (Thursday, August 7).
Eyewitnesses said they swooped on the Crown Road flats after the alarm was raised when the male dog attacked another, older, female dog.
There were claims on social media said that the dog was being 'ragged back and forth.'

One witness said 'screams' could be heard during the incident.
