Video shows Bristol balloon crash with school roof after Fiesta ascent

This is the moment a hot air balloon struck the roof of a primary school after taking off from the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta.

The spectacular mass ascent this morning (Friday, August 8) saw 90 balloons lift off from Ashton Court on day one of the much-loved event, but it seems the wind carried one slightly off-course.

A neighbour in Knowle West noticed the JLL-branded balloon flying close to rooftops as she peered out just after 7am this morning, and captured the moment it bumped into the roof of Oasis Academy Connaught school as it neared its scheduled landing site.
