An abandoned pressure cooker drew members of the Boston Police Bomb Squad to Boston Common Thursday night as authorities investigated the suspicious device.

Officers responded to the area of 170 Tremont St. around 10:05 p.m. after receiving a report of a deserted pressure cooker, a Boston police spokesperson said. Glow sticks appeared to be attached to the device, he said.

“Upon arrival, officers implemented standard operating procedures to safely clear the item,” the spokesperson explained. “The object was determined to be a discarded electric pressure cooker and several disposable foam glow sticks.”

He said police checked the surrounding area for any other suspicious items but found none. After deeming the scene safe, authorities secured the pressure cooker for proper disposal.
