WASHINGTON — Trayon White is officially back on the D.C. Council, six months after being ousted and almost exactly a year since the FBI arrested him on federal bribery charges .
The District's Board of Elections certified the results of last month's special election to replace White in Ward 8 Friday morning, confirming his win. He will take back the seat that his fellow councilmembers unanimously voted to expel him from on Feb. 4.
Last August, White was arrested by the FBI and accused of accepting $35,000 in cash and thousands more in kickbacks to help secure government contracts for a violence interruption program. He pleaded not guilty and is set to stand trial in January 2026.
Many of D.C.'s other councilmembers have said they would try to remove him again should he be reelected.
