ANN ARBOR, Mich. — There are no “thunder and lightning” comparisons this year when it comes to Michigan’s running backs. The duo of Justice Haynes and Jordan Marshall enter 2025 with different stories, different backgrounds, both looking for the same opportunity.

Differences?

“I don’t know how much different we are,” Marshall told reporters this week. “We’re both complete backs. We balance everything — from pass (protection) to catching the ball to running the ball.”

It was Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore who labeled the duo “1a” and “1b” this summer, and while he refrained from identifying who was the top guy, it sets the stage for this fall where both will be integral parts of the Wolverines’ offense.
