WOODINVILLE, Wash. — Washington’s wine industry is facing a steep drop in sales — a slump that’s now spilling into popular wine destinations like Woodinville.

The Puget Sound Business Journal reports wine case sales have dropped 18% statewide since 2021. The downturn has hit Woodinville particularly hard, with tasting room visitation down 13% and wine sales declining 10.7% compared to 2024, according to the director of Woodinville Wine Country.

The dip could be influenced by a number of factors, including a broader generational shift away from traditional alcoholic beverages toward alternatives like seltzers, mocktails and even marijuana, industry experts say.
