SAN DIEGO — As the Red Sox prepare for a three-game series at Petco Park against the Padres this weekend, Boston fans might wonder how their former star shortstop, Xander Bogaerts, is faring.

Bogaerts is in the third year of an 11-year, $280 million contract with San Diego. He is batting .271 with a .340 on-base percentage, .398 slugging percentage, .737 OPS, nine home runs, 25 doubles, 40 RBIs, 51 runs, 45 walks and 72 strikeouts in 113 games (463 plate appearances). He’s been successful on 17 of 18 stolen bases attempts.

He’s in the 80th percentile or higher in whiff percentage (19.2%), strikeout percentage (15.6%), squared-up percentage (30.7%), expected batting average (.284) and chase percentage (21.4%).
