AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Laney football has never shied away from a challenge. The Wildcats have made a habit of hanging in, even when the odds are stacked against them.

Since the early 2000s, regional play in the GHSA has changed. What once were 4A schools, others 3A, have dropped down to 2A. Laney is still trying to compete-but finds themselves in a tough spot. Being the underdog isn’t new. In fact, it’s something the Wildcats wear proudly.

“I think we’re always in a position where we’re playing teams that are a lot bigger than us, or schools that are a lot bigger than us,” Baker said.
