A George County deputy was arrested Thursday night for allegedly driving under the influence, according to a release from Sheriff Mitchell Mixon.
Mixon said the incident began when law enforcement officers saw that the off-duty deputy appeared to be under the influence. In the interest of transparency, the George County Sheriff’s Office advised other law enforcement agencies to handle the matter in accordance with standard legal procedures.
The deputy, Braxton Keebler, 22, was taken into custody without incident and “will face the legal process like any other citizen,” according to Mixon. He is currently being housed at the Greene County Sheriff’s Office on charges of DUI-Driving Under the Influence.
