Hattiesburg Police have arrested two people in connection with a shooting that left one man critically injured early Friday morning.

At approximately 12:50 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 200 block of Martin Luther King Avenue. Investigators determined that an altercation between several individuals escalated, resulting in shots being fired.

An adult male victim sustained a gunshot wound during the incident. First responders provided aid at the scene before transporting him to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Following the investigation, police arrested: • 23-year-old Melvin Manassa charged with one count of Attempted First-Degree Murder.
