The Inland Empire’s only public radio and TV stations will air less original programming in favor of more reruns after Congress clawed back more than a billion dollars in previously approved funding for public broadcasting nationwide.

“We’re going to see a lot of ‘the best of,’ ” said Connie Leyva, former state senator turned executive director of KVCR. “There will be a lot of cutbacks there.”

On July 18, Congress voted 216-213 to rescind $1.1 billion in previously approved funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. President Donald Trump and conservative Republicans have criticized the news coverage on NPR and PBS, saying it was politically slanted against them.
