JACKSN, Miss. (WJTV) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) confirmed the first death from a human case of West Nile Virus (WNV) in the state for 2025.
According to MSDH, the death occurred in Washington County. There have been 10 human cases of WNV reported in the state so far this year. Click here for a list of county-by-county cases.
WNV is transmitted primarily through the bite of an infected mosquito.
