STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- Two people and their pet are safe after a fire raged through their home in Stafford County Friday morning.

Around 3:15 a.m. on Aug. 8, the Stafford County Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a house fire on McCauley Lane just off of Belle Plains Road in the White Oak area.

Minutes later, units arrived on the scene and found a single-story home engulfed in flames.

Firefighters searched the house, while others began attacking the fire.

The fire department noted that two people and their dog were able to safely escape the blaze before firefighters arrived.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Stafford County Fire Marshal’s Office.
