BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Benton County Sheriff's Office said a six-year-old boy who had been reported missing was found dead on Friday.

BSCO said in a news release that around 10 p.m. on Thursday, the department was notified that the child had gone missing from his home near Browning Road in Gentry.

Sheriff Shawn Holloway immediately activated the BCSO's Search and Rescue Teams to begin an extensive search for the child.

BCSO said around 8 a.m. on Friday, the child was found dead.

The department said that their hearts were with the child's family, friends, and all who loved him during this difficult time.
