ATLANTIC CITY — The state Local Finance Board is scheduled to hold a hearing on the city's approximately $280 million budget Wednesday.

Under the Supervision Act and the Municipal Stabilization and Recovery Act, the legislation that governs the state's oversight of the city, the Local Finance Board has to approve the city's budget.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. in Trenton.

A delay in the approval of the state budget pushed back the city's hearing to August, officials have said.

The city was unable to submit its budget application before the June 19 deadline for the July 9 meeting because of outstanding issues with state funding.

From 2022 to 2024, the board took up the city's budget during its July meeting.
